Ocmulgee National Monument, 20th Indian Celebration | Georgia Photographer

A few years ago, I went back home to Kansas for a wedding. At the reception, I was dancing with my dad's father, my Papa Jack, whose life remains to be more of a mystery to me than anything. He's not much of a talker, so I was surprised and thrilled that as we danced together that night, that I found him in the mood to chat. I've never heard anything about my great grandmother, his mother. I'm someone who wants to hear endless stories about my grandparents. I love hearing about how life used to be, so different- it fascinates me. As the music played, our hands intertwined, he told me about my great grandmother, a Blackfoot Indian. I remember a feeling of pride and honor hitting me as I learned my great grandmother, who I never knew was an Indian. I also remember my grandfather making a point that back then, it was something shameful to be married to an Indian and that he didn't grow up proud to have a mother who was an Indian. I made these pictures for my great grandmother, whose story I may never know, but somehow I feel very connected to.

From Native American culture and history flows such beauty and a deep peace with nature. I was so excited to attend the 20th Indian Celebration at the Ocmulgee National Monument this past Saturday. In the greater scheme of time flying by, it was just a few short moments of my day, yet it was still such a wonderful experience. Such a reminder- to find ways to divest myself of daily distractions and emerge more fully into the pockets of this world that make me feel alive. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do

Today is such a special day and I'm so excited to honor this beautiful mama friend of mine with her family photos! I am in love with these, I hope you treasure them for many, many years. I have been blessed to capture The Foster family over the last few years, and it is always a delight. After being around this sweet family I feel so happy and joyful. LaPrincess and I met when we worked together for a mutual friend. She was always so sweet to me and we became friends fast. She is such a genuine girl with an amazing heart and I love being around her.  Trey and LaPrincess, I'm so thankful for you two and I love seeing the love you have for each other and others. Your girls are wonderful and adorable inside and out. I hope Trey and the girls spoil you rotten with hugs and kisses today! You deserve it, beautiful mama! Happy Mother's Day!

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you | Frost Photography

Happy Mother's Day to this incredible, strong, and gorgeous inside and out mama! Esteé and Peace are so very dear to my heart. It is just incredible how God gives you exactly the people who you need at the perfect time.  Esteé and I met at church and I've felt like I have this new amazing best friend ever since. These two beautiful girls have breathed such light into my life, they are truly like long lost family. The feeling of being at home with a friend is so rare and special, and it is something I treasure.  As you will see, these two are naturals in front of the camera. Their free and happy spirits combined with the lush green setting, horse stables, and wildflowers made for some of my all time favorite photographs. Get ready for some adorable belly laughs, mama daughter cuddles, and some guitar playing by the water.  As you probably know I love capturing my subjects doing life in their every day setting. Esteé and Peace both love music and have recently st...

Elizabeth & Lanier in the Leaves | Georgia Photographer

This brother and sister duo were such a delight to photograph. I'm drawn to joy and happiness, and this shoot brought me both. I love that Elizabeth and Lanier were playful and ready to have fun. The tall trees, light, and sea of leaves made the perfect setting to make these pictures. One of the many reasons I love spending time with kids is because you get an excuse to act like a kid again. Life just isn't as good if you can't play in the leaves. I love my job. Enjoy these!
